So a one day break turned into a long weekend turned into a week…but here we are!
Also, HAPPY FRIDAY!
So, a couple things to talk about today. First, I have found a new Zen…the game Factorio (not an affiliate link). Over the last week I have been playing quite a bit of it, now that it’s in full release as opposed to the early release I had played before, and I absolutely LOVE it! It uses the logical, problem solving part of my brain without taxing the emotional, interpersonal side so it’s really kind of perfect for the type of stress relief I need. Also, as is a rarity in most modern video games, it’s completely self-contained. There are no expansion packs to worry about, isn’t focused primarily on the multiplayer experience, and not graphically intensive (while also not being graphically boring) so I can run it without slowing my computer down.
Secondly, I spent a good part of today looking into time blocking again. I have yet to find a good solution for what I need/want that works well with my current workflow. I use Asana and Toggl to keep track of projects (personal and professional) and track my time (personal and billable), respectively, and they work pretty well together without any crossover. Neither of them do time blocking in an effective way, however. Finding a time blocking app that will either integrate into those, or at least not try to replace/replicate them, while also being available on all the OSs I use (iOS, Win10, and macOS) is seemingly impossible.
If you’d like a full review of Factorio or to hear more about my time and task tracking (and my search for a time blocking resource), drop a comment. If you have suggestions for time blocking that work well, email me at anthony@anthonylemos.com.
I hope your weekend goes well, Dear Reader, and I’ll catch you next week!
