As I form this blog and begin to develop patterns, I want to make sure of two things:
- I post regularly for special events and days
- I don’t post on days when I should really be concentrating on something else
So in that vein, I want to start expressing my thanks the day before Thanksgiving so I can concentrate on family the day of.
I also don’t want to repeat myself each year…so coming editions of this will be an addendum to this one instead of a rehashing.
And while I am always thankful for my friends and family, this year has been particularly stressful. Just before the COVID crisis hit in March, I was in a really bad place. Stressed about starting a small company, recently retired from a 24 year employer, politics, family issues, and just living a burnt-out mindset created a necessity for me to take a step back. Now, at the end of the year, it was really my friends and family that pulled me through. Not only is my family life better in almost every way (though the word better here is very generalized), my business is more focused and less stressful, I’m producing better quality in my hobbies, and I generally feel more accomplished than at the beginning of the year.
COVID is still a daily conversation in our home, and while we’ve all been safe thus far, there have been those around us with much less success dealing with the pandemic. And our success has all been rooted in the fact that our family took it seriously. It’s again another thing I am thankful for.
So this year’s Thank You post is for all those in my family, for the friends that try so desperately to understand me…and you to, Dear Reader, for taking the time out of your busy life to read my thoughts.
